Curved beams help to raise new Mersey Gateway Bridge pylons
The project to build a new bridge across the River Mersey is well underway, with work already started at the sites for the three main bridge pylons. In order to have a safe environment in which to build the foundations, engineers have constructed a series of cofferdams with the help of Barnshaws metal benders, which has supplied nearly 400 tonnes of curved, heavy section steel for Bolton – based contractor, SPI Appleton Limited.

Visit Barnshaws at the Commercial Vehicle Show 2016

Barnshaws enables visitors to ride new ArcelorMittal Orbit helter-skelter
One of the defining structures of the London 2012 Olympics, the ArcelorMittal Orbit reaches 115 metres into the London skyline around Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Designed by Sir Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond, the famous landmark is now incorporating a 584 ft long helter-skelter to provide visitors with a unique view of the capital's landmarks. Barnshaws helps celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Supermarine Spitfire
Very few aircraft capture the essence of British resistance like the Supermarine Spitfire, an aircraft which today epitomises the valiant efforts made by the RAF during the Second World War. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful propeller aircraft to ever grace the sky, the Supermarine Spitfire played a vital role in modernising British fighter squadrons against the technologically advanced Luftwaffe, supplementing the dependable but somewhat obsolete Hawker Hurricane. This month the Spitfire celebrates the 80th anniversary since its maiden flight on 5th March 1936, and this recognition has been supported by Barnshaws Section Benders precision bending and fabrication.
