The raising of the Mary Rose in 1982 was one of the most complex salvage operations ever conducted, breaking new ground in diving and conservation techniques. It was an operation that older employees of Barnshaws Section Benders will also remember, as the businesses’ unrivalled steel fabrication expertise helped bring the wreck to the surface.

The birthplace of the Ashes and the location of the first ever Test Match in England, the Oval Stadium will be further adding to its vibrant history this August as England take on Pakistan in the final test. A bastion of cricket since 1845, one of the most recent redevelopments to the stadium involved the installation of a 'living wall' at the Vauxhall End, completed in 2005. The new façade required precision curved steel sections to realise its vibrant design, so steelwork contractors Severfield contacted Barnshaws Section Benders for a fabrication solution.

Metal fabrication and bending specialist Barnshaws Section Benders has contributed to the construction of Britain's first purpose built digital advertising arch in Salford, Manchester. The Salford Arch was financed by UK outdoor advertising business JCDecaux, and features precision rolled steel tube from Barnshaws Section Benders.

The famous retractable roof on centre court benefits from 10 roof trusses which the Tividale based company fabricated and precision curved, ensuring sports fans get to enjoy world class tennis – whatever the weather.
