Barnshaws Snack Box Helps The Local Community

Barnshaws Section Benders is a company many would associate with construction, but the Tividale based metal fabrication and bending experts have also been getting involved in another kind of development. Barnshaws has been helping to develop the local community, having raised £1060 for various local charities, all from a single snack cupboard!

The initiative took off 2 years ago when Barnshaws replaced their vending machine with a snack cupboard for employees. The snacks proved to be popular, and shortly after it was suggested to slightly increase prices and donate the profits to local charities.

Curved steel raises the roof on M&S car park

As part of the £70 million redevelopment of Longbridge town centre, the developer has constructed a new superstore for Marks & Spencer that is to be one of the largest in the country. The adjoining car park has been constructed from steel with the roof and floor sections being curved by Barnshaws metal bending to ensure sufficient strength and controlled water runoff. The work was carried out for specialist steelwork contractor James Killelea Limited

Francis Crick Institute benefits from modern curved steel solutions

Proudly carrying the moniker of the co-discoverer of DNA's molecular structure, the first scientists have moved into the Francis Crick Institute in London. The £650 million structure will be Europe's largest biomedical laboratory under one roof and will study how illness develops with the aim of tackling health conditions such as cancer, heart disease and brain disorders. The distinctive structure owes its modern appearance to the work of Tividale-based Barnshaws Section Benders, who supplied approximately 300 tons of precision curved structural steel to help realise the project.

Barnshaws Help Secure Olympic Legacy with Derby Arena Curved Steel Columns

Recently recognised at the Structural Steel Design Awards 2015, the construction of Derby Arena has benefitted from precision curved steel columns, measuring up to 24 metres long, produced by Barnshaws Section Benders.

The facility combines an Olympic standard 250 metre velodrome track, 12 badminton courts or three volley ball courts and seating for up to 5,000 spectators. The first velodrome to be constructed in the wake of the 2012 Olympics, saw the main steelwork contractor, Billington Structures Ltd, turn to metal bending specialists Barnshaws to supply the precision curved columns for the steel infrastructure of this legacy project.
